信州桔梗ヶ原ワインバレーで片丘地区に佇む新しいワイナリー。
先人の志を引き継ぐ素朴な挑戦者たるもの
ただひたむきに豊かなワインの本質を追求する
それがドメーヌ・コーセイです。
The first Merlot vine
to bear fruit in Shiojiri has been
standing since the 1950s now deeply rooted and wrinkled with age.
1950年代、塩尻ではじめて実ったメルロの樹は
今も深いしわを携えてどっしりと根をおろしている。
「ワインのおいしさとは、この味をいうのか」
当時、桔梗ヶ原で世界に並ぶワインを夢見ていた林五一氏と、三男の幹雄氏は幾多の困難を乗り越えてたどり着いた今までにない、欧米の味に目を輝かせていた。
“This flavor is like the taste of the finest wine!”
Goichi Hayashi and his third son Mikio had been dreaming of making a world-class wine in Kikyogahara.
When they finally tasted that distinctly European flavor for the first time, achieved after overcoming so much hardship, their eyes sparkled with joy.
長野県で最も古いメルロの樹。
これを植えたのは林五一氏と幹雄氏の親子である。
This is the oldest Merlot vine in Nagano Prefecture.
It was planted by Goichi Hayashi and his son, Mikio.
当時、いくつかの農家がメルロの栽培に挑戦したが、
接ぎ木がうまくいかずに栽培をあきらめていた。
しかし、幹雄氏は粘り強く試行錯誤を繰り返した。
At that time, several other farmers also tried growing Merlot vines,
but soon gave up on it because their grafts failed to take.
However, Mikio persevered and repeated his cultivation efforts.
その中で編み出したのが高接ぎ木である。
ある年の大寒波でコンコードやナイアガラが軒並み枯れてしまったが、五一氏と幹雄氏が
植えた高接ぎ木のメルロは大寒波にあっても、一本も枯れることなく春を迎えたのだ。
これを機に、桔梗ヶ原のメルロは脚光を浴びるようになったのである。
Through this process of trial and error, he came up with the method high grafting.
One year, a severe cold snap in the region killed all the Concord and Niagara vines,
but Goichi and Mikio’ s high-grafted
Merlot vines all lived to greet the spring.
Thanks to this incident, Kikyogahara’ s Merlot vines began to receive a lot of attention.
